Do you ever feel like throwing in the towel and giving up?!
The painful days, the endless nights and the ongoing battle can be hard and get old really fast when you become a part of the unique cancer “club.”
And painstakingly, most people don’t talk about it, which only adds to the loneliness.
This is why we are so thankful to be able to share Molly’s story.
Molly’s Favorite Sport or Activity:
Playing babies, tea parties, cooking, crafting with glitter and accessorizing like a princess.
Molly’s Favorite Healthy Food:
Snap peas, frozen fruits (and peas), most raw veggies and pink smoothies
From KICKcancER:

- If you need some suggestions of what to add to your smoothies, this is a good article and here’s a favorite recipe.
Molly’s Health Tip:
Molly loves using the BioMat and doing castor oil packs.
From KICKcancER:
The BioMat is an incredible tool. It uses far infrared rays, which are anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal, to assist the body in ‘cooking’ out the cancer. It stimulates detox and healthy cell production. For many of our KICKcancER kids, the BioMat mini is ideal and can be used at night while sleeping. The BioMat is also a great tool to use for anyone in the home who gets sick. Molly’s Story with KICKcancER:
(This is shared by Molly’s mom, Brooke.)
The Diagnosis…
Molly was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on August 25, 2015. She was 22 months old, and it was just two weeks after her brother was born! Needless to say, our lives were quite hectic in the fall of 2015. However, we somehow found the way to make it through each day…even if they weren’t always graceful. The next few years were full of adventures that we had never planned to take. Yet, our family walked away with a little more gratitude for everything in life.
The Beginning…
The beginning of Molly’s two and half year chemotherapy protocol involved a 30-day course of steroids. Let’s just say that the word, “steroids,” is no longer welcome our house. After that first month, she had started vomiting randomly, complained of leg pain, struggled with constipation issues, was always hungry, and very irritable. I was honestly terrified that this was a glimpse into our lives for the next two years.
About two months into our journey, one of my best friends reached out to me and asked if I ever thought about using Frankincense with Molly. We started with just rubbing a drop of Frankincense on her feet each night. Things slowly started to get better.
Then late one night during a hospital stay, I was on Pinterest and just thought on a whim to search for “Frankincense and ALL.” One pin appeared from a momma named Season Johnson. Her son was thriving through his diagnosis and chemotherapy treatments by utilizing alternative therapies. And the rest is history.
In December of 2015, we started implementing essential oils, nutritional protocols, and detox therapies that Season and Kari both so kindly suggested in our emails. I began:
- Sneaking veggies into all of our foods and making Molly smoothies every day that had at least some sort of leafy green, kefir, collagen peptides, and berries to make it pink or purple.
- Implementing a daily schedule that involved BioMat time, Castor Oil Packs, and Detox Baths.
- Having a bedtime routine that included essential oil blends such as a cellular complex blend and a protective blend because germs during chemo are extra terrifying. We quickly became known in our clinic for smelling like oils, as well as, having a diffuser and salt lamp in our hospital room.
At some point, one of favorite nurses said, “whatever you’re doing, keep going. She’s doing so well!”
The Game Changer…
Then, the KICKcancER Retreat in October of 2016 was the empowering game changer in our cancer story. It was so reassuring to be surrounded by so many other families that were standing where I was or had already walked this journey. Life can be so isolating in the world of being a parent of a Wellness Warrior. However, for a weekend, we were all in the fight together.
We sat through countless sessions that included information on nutrition, raw milk, essential oils, environmental toxins, detox protocols, and so much more. Though the information was so vital and I came home ready to take on the world with all I had learned, the real magic of the retreat is finally having a sense of community. I felt like we had arrived feeling alone in our little world. Yet, we walked away with a KICKcancER family who could truly relate to all we were going through.
KICKcancER empowered us to keep pushing through on those days when we were running out of steam.
Molly’s side effects of treatment slowly decreased once we started using the nutritional advice, essential oils, and detox therapies. Thankfully, we only experienced a few unplanned hospitalizations for neutropenic fevers and two infections. Molly continued dancing through treatment; but, the best part is on Christmas Day 2017, she took her last dose of chemotherapy.
To this day, we are still celebrating and will continue dancing with a new sense of gratitude for this amazing thing called life.
