When you’re in crisis, it can be really easy to focus on everything that’s going wrong and really difficult to focus on hope and joy!
It’s human nature.
However, you’ll feel mentally and physically better when you make this choice and allow time for joy in your life when things are rough. Also one of the best ways to do this is to focus on the present moment.
Instead of thinking about tomorrow, or next week, or the week after that, choose to live 15 minutes at a time. You might even ask yourself questions like these to help…
- Is there something happening right now that’s beautiful or meaningful?
- Are you listening to a song you love on the radio?
- Did your child just get an A on a test?
- Did your spouse give you a hug when you needed one?
Focus on small, positive things in your life, one tiny moment at a time. Over time, this practice will help you to stay more present in your life. And this will help your stress to decrease and your body and mind to heal!

Malachi’s Story with KICKcancER:
(This is from Malachi’s mom, Vianca.)
“While visiting family in Naples, Florida during May of this year, Malachi began having headaches. We discovered in the ER that my son, Malachi, had a rare malignant brain tumor that required immediate medical intervention. He was airlifted to Miami.
By the grace of God, he had placed the President of the North American Pediatric Neurosurgeons on call Memorial Day weekend!
What a gift!
Malachi was able to receive a total resection after 14 hour emergency surgery which saved his life; the tumor was diagnosed as a rare form of choroid plexus carcinoma. This would require chemo and radiation to prevent further recurrence.
God has been so faithful to put resources like the kickcancer organization in our path to help make this journey that much more bearable! We are so grateful for the kick cancer kit and the essential oils that help tremendously when the nausea kicks in.
God is our ever present help in trouble! We know the absence of suffering is not our good; Jesus’ nearness is our good! So we find fellowship with him in our suffering! He has been so near through the love of his people and organizations such as kickcancer that have come alongside. They’ve given us so much wisdom to help our son find strength and healing through this journey. It has brought us so much hope and is such an honor to be connected to an organization like this that shines light in darkness. It reminds us where our hope comes from, the maker of heaven and earth!
I had no idea where to start with helping my son in natural ways to overcome the side effects of the chemo. Receiving the kickcancer kit was life-giving. To have all those blessings in our hands and immediate resources to draw upon to help make his journey easier was such a gift!
The financial strain of all this coming upon us so suddenly and having to relocate our 5 kids to Miami made it difficult to know what natural resources we should spend our money on. However, your organization has made that so much easier. It’s giving us a head start and so many free resources to get us started.
We are so grateful for all you do and the ways you pour yourself out to help those that are walking through suffering! In everything we give thanks to Jesus for the love he pours out through his people and organizations like this one!”
